Additional costs apply for transport and site entrance. We also offer longer tours to all parts of the island that can be customised to fit your interests. Why Sri Lanka is Called the "Wonder of Asia" The title reflects several "wonders" found across the island: Ancient Civilisations: Sri Lanka is home to 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya (often called the 8th Wonder of the World) and the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Diverse Landscapes: In just a few hours, you can travel from pristine golden beaches to the misty tea plantations of the central highlands (often called "Little England"). Wildlife Diversity: It is one of the best places in the world to see leopards (Yala National Park), wild elephants (Minneriya "Gathering"), and Blue Whales off the southern coast. Spiritual Heritage: As a stronghold of Theravada Buddhism for centuries, the island is filled with magnificent stupas and temples, such as the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. Villa De Zoysa Tour & Excursion Policy For our guests joining us for an extended journey of 10 days or more, we offer the opportunity to explore the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural and natural beauty. 1. Eligible Tours Guests on retreats lasting 10 days or longer may choose an optional trip to one of two iconic regions: The Hill Country (Ella): Known for its lush tea plantations, the Nine Arches Bridge, and misty mountain views. Cultural & Wildlife (Sigiriya): A visit to the ancient UNESCO World Heritage rock fortress, combined with an exhilarating wildlife safari. 2. Inclusions To support your comfort during these longer excursions, the following is included in your retreat fee: Overnight Accommodation: Villa De Zoysa will cover the cost of your stay while on the tour. 3. Guest Responsibilities (Exclusions) The following costs are not included in the retreat fee and must be covered by the guest: Transportation: Additional charges apply for the vehicle and driver to transport you to these locations. Entrance Fees: Guests are responsible for fees at Sigiriya, safari park entry, and train tickets (for the scenic Ella route). Meals: All meals during the duration of the tour are at the guest's own expense. 4. Customization & Agreement Because every journey is unique, the specific terms, itinerary, and final logistics for these longer tours will be discussed and mutually agreed upon before the start of your retreat. This ensures the trip is tailored to your preferences and physical practice. Important Planning Tip: For the safari and Sigiriya climbs, we recommend bringing light, breathable clothing and comfortable walking shoes. For Ella, a light jacket or sweater is recommended as the temperature drops significantly in the evenings.
